Hello, I’m Ella the founder of Society Flowers - a floral design studio and cutting garden based on the North Cornish, near Padstow and Newquay.
The seed for Society Flowers was planted 10 years ago when I was getting married myself… I desperately wanted flowers which were romantic, fulsome, whimsical and had a hint of the wild landscape we’d chosen for our wedding. I’d read that 80% of the flowers we buy in the UK are imported from overseas which as the daughter and grand-daughter of fabulous gardeners seemed bonkers to me - so I also wanted the flowers to be locally grown. I couldn’t find what I envisaged anywhere! So, together with my mum, granny and their obliging gardens - I made them myself.
In the following years, I taught myself to grow and arrange flowers in my time off whilst pursuing a career in the advertising industry by day. Colleagues, friends and family began asking if I could create their wedding flowers too, so I became a moonlight florist, growing the flowers in my allotment and tiny courtyard city garden. I adored it, but I never dreamed of it being something I could do full time.
Then a few years ago we moved our small family to Cornwall and removed from my city life I set about making my pipe dream of growing and creating flowers for weddings and events a reality. And so here I am, making the flowers I wished existed 10 years ago for couples getting married now. I love to work with like-minded couples who love a garden inspired aesthetic and wish for wedding flowers which are as sustainable as they are beautiful.
If this sounds perfect for you please do get in touch, I would love to hear from you.
